A Layman’s Guide on how to use the Calculator to estimate thermal cooling capacity requirements.
- Step One: Print out the calculator at the bottom of the page.
- Step Two: Measure the area to be air conditioned / heated, including windows, doors etc and what direction they face.
- Step Three: Write the measured value into the appropriate line of column A.
- Step Four: Multiply the value in column A by the most appropriate multiplying factor in column B and write your answer in the Cooling load column.
- Step Five: Add up the totals in the Cooling load column to get the Sensible cooling load (W).
- Step Six: Multiply the sensible cooling load x 1.3 to get the required thermal cooling capacity.
- Step Seven: Select a heat pump to match or better the required thermal cooling capacity.
