What is the difference between Solar PV Panel and Solar Collecting Tube?
Solar PV Panel is a device that transforms solar energy into electrical energy based on Photo Electric Effect. Solar Collecting Tube is a device that transforms Solar Energy into Thermal Energy (Heat) and stores it in a Heat Accumulator.
-
What is the difference between a PV Generation Solar Air Conditioner and a Collector Solar Air Conditioner?
The key difference is in the way Solar Energy is utilized. In the PV Solar Air Conditioner, Solar Energy is transformed into Electrical Power by the Solar PV Panels and does not directly heat the refrigerant medium involved in refrigeration. In the Collector Solar Air Conditioner, the tube forms part of the refrigeration system and causes the Refrigerant medium to be directly heated by the sun. Although the Collector type Solar Air Conditioner is more efficient than the PV generation type Solar Air Conditioner in the utilization of solar energy, the PV Generation Solar Air Conditioner’s performance is more reliable.
-
Can SOLAR COOL be completely driven by Solar Energy?
Yes, as long as the sunlight is intense enough to produce the solar energy that is required for operation of the air conditioner. As SOLAR COOL’s inverter air conditioner consumes little electrical power when operating at ultra-low frequency, the 1000 watts array of solar PV panels is sufficient to meet the demand for electric power.
-
Is it a “must” to connect commercial power to the solar air conditioner unit?
Yes. Since energy transformation efficiency and solar power generating capacity are directly related to the intensity of light, the solar PV panels power generating capacity decreases in reduced light intensity and or cloudy weather conditions and will be completely absent in the dark of night fall. In the absence of an auxiliary power source, the unit may not operate normally and or it may stop completely.
-
Is the product equipped with an Accumulator ( Battery Bank )?
The accumulator is not supplied with this product. Provision for an accumulator is an option to be considered for locations where commercial or auxiliary power is not available. The need for commercial or auxiliary power is to ensure that the product will operated to the user’s satisfaction under varying light intensity during the day light hours and or nights.
-
Is SOLAR COOL Air Conditioner a “HYBRID” air conditioner?
Yes. Definition of the word “HYBRID” clearly states that any device that is powered by more than one source of power, and since Solar Cool is also powered by two different sources of power, it is categorized as a hybrid system.
-
Are the Solar PV Panels directly connected to the air conditioner unit and hence no independent Inverters and or Controllers are required?
Yes. Solar Cool air conditioners are designed to receive power directly from the solar PV panels because it is equipped with a proprietary Power Supply Control Module that eliminates the need for an independent Inverter and or Controller which are usually expensive and increases the overall cost of the product beside creating third party supplied items, support and reliability issues.
-
How does Solar Cool Air Conditioner helps to reduce my utility bills?
DC power supplied directly by the Solar PV Panels replaces the power supplied via your Mains (commercial) power during the daytime running hours hence resulting in cost savings of up to 97%.
-
What is the timeframe for the Return On Investment (ROI)?
The timeframe for Return On investment for Solar Cool Air Conditioner is very much dependent on the cost per kilowatt hour in the country its being installed, local labor charges for installation and retail price of the equipment. General trends have been between 8 months where the per unit electricity cost $0.80 per kilowatt hour to 36 months where the per unit electricity cost is about $0.10 per kilowatt hour.
-
Can I purchase the Air Conditioner Unit only and use my own Solar PV Panels?
Yes, provided the Solar PV panels you intent to use meets the following requirements namely :
i) It can provide a steady DC Voltage of between 90 to 120 VDC and must NOT exceed 165 VDC because it will damage the power supply module.
ii) It must be able to supply DC current NOT exceeding 11 amperes DC because it will damage the power supply module. -
Why are Solar Cool Air Conditioners supplied with Polycrystalline Solar PV Panels instead of Monocrystalline Solar PV Panels?
A classic question subjected to endless debates. Both mono (costlier) and poly (less costlier) are very similar in performance and not at all a deciding factor when purchasing for use with Solar Cool. What is important is that the brand you intent to purchase is known for its performance and reliability. We supply poly panels that are manufactured by a first tier world class manufacturer reputed for its reliability and performance and hence our undertaking to warranty the product for 10 years.
